Crispy Tofu

Crispy tofu is a delicious Indonesian snack made from tofu, flour, tapioca, and seasonings. The tofu is coated with a thin batter and fried until golden and crunchy. It can be served with various sauces or toppings, such as sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, or mayonnaise. Crispy tofu is easy to make at home with simple ingredients and steps. In this article, I will show you how to make crispy tofu with a step-by-step guide.

Ingredients:
- 7 pieces of lembang tofu (or any firm tofu)
- 50 grams of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of tapioca starch
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- Stock powder (optional)
- 300 ml of water
- Oil for frying

How to make crispy tofu:
1. Cut the tofu into 4 pieces each. In a large bowl, mix the flour, tapioca starch, baking powder, salt, pepper, and water until well combined.
2. Add the tofu pieces to the batter and toss to coat. Drain the excess batter and fry the tofu in hot oil until dry and crispy. Repeat with the remaining batter and tofu, frying them 2-3 times each. Remove from the oil and serve.
3. Enjoy your crispy tofu with your favorite sauce or topping.

Notes:
- Fry the tofu in plenty of hot oil over medium heat. Make sure the oil is very hot before adding the tofu.
- Before adding more batter to the tofu, make sure the tofu is completely dry and crispy. You can fry the tofu 2-3 times to get the best result.
- You can substitute tapioca starch with cornstarch if you prefer.
- Baking powder helps the tofu stay crispy longer.
